New polymer synthesis, therefore, will hopefully lead to creation of new polymer materials in the 21st century. This special issue contributed by three groups focuses on recent advances in polymer synthesis methods, which handle the cutting-edge aspects of the advanced technology. The Polymer Chemistry section publishes significant findings across all aspects of macromolecular science. Articles should showcase strong elements of innovation in terms of macromolecular design, synthesis or advanced characterization. Recognizing the ever-increasing role of computational approaches, partly or fully theoretical contributions on the mathematical modeling of polymer behavior. The use of polymer gears has significantly increased in the past 50 years due to the advantages they exhibit over metal gears. The main ones being: cheaper mass production, lower weight, corrosion resistance, and the possibility of running without lubrication. Noise and vibration levels, as well as harshness behavior, are also better due to polymer's excellent damping properties.   Polymer Science and Engineering explores the universe of polymers, describing their properties and wide-ranging potential, and presents the state of the science, with a hard look at downward trends in research support. Leading experts offer findings, recommendations, and research Author: National Research Council, Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences, and Applications Commission on Physical Sciences, Mathematics.

New frontiers in polymer research. New York: Nova Science Publishers, © (OCoLC) Material Type: Internet resource: Document Type: Book, .   It immerses readers in the historical perspective and the frontiers of research where our knowledge is increasing steadily—providing them with a feeling of the enormous potential, the multiple applications, and the many up-and-coming trends behind the development of macromolecular interfaces based on the use of polymer brushes. Introduction to Frontiers in Polymer Synthesis One of the pioneers of the field of Polymer Science made the following statement in the Preface to his book on the history of polymers: “I found out quickly that there is no substitute for reading eVery reference citedssecond-hand citations are incredibly unreliable.”1 In spite of the fact that. The use of polymers in medicine has become a reality over the last 10 years. Scientists have been attempting to develop biomimetic materials to substitute for flawed or damaged natural systems. This new book presents the most up-to-date developments in the use of synthetic polymers as biomaterials.
